The Disability Discrimination Act came into force in October 2004, and many corporate websites are still far from ready for it. Many organisations are waiting to see the outcome of the inevitable test cases in the courts.
It is highly likely that a test-case will be brought to the courts very soon, and West Surrey branch is very keen to inform and educate local marketers of their obligations in this area. Our former Chairman, Thom Poole has developed a training course that is available for companies, and has many contacts in the field of accessibility and usability, ranging from creative design agencies to quality audit contacts. If you want to know more, please contact Thom.
West Surrey branch ran a workshop last year to inform members of the legal changes and the requirements. The companies represented there are less likely to be part of that litigation, but as a continuing service to members, we have agreed to put the presentation and all the resources onto a CD-ROM which can be ordered using an order form found by clicking here (Microsoft Word file - 42KB). Please contact the branch if you have any further questions.
